To Marry and Bury

To Marry and Bury

It's with great excitement that Danielle and I get to announce that we have officially been ordained!     We're big proponents of each member of the body being a part of the royal priesthood (see 1 Peter 2:9 and In Christ, In Ministry), each individual being called to minister the gospel of Jesus. Because of that, we have never thought to seek out ordination. Until recently, that is... Though we've been in ministry, as a married couple, for over eight years, we, for the first time, both felt the Lord leading us to get ordained. Shortly after the idea came, the Lord showed me the time, location, and with whom we would be ordained. With the passing of a few months, it happened exactly as I had seen it! We feel so tremendously honored to have had Danielle's Aunt and Uncle, Drs. Heidi and Rolland Baker, Will Hart, Shara Pradhan and the entire Iris Global team in Redding, CA ordain us! "Why? The Marathoner and Jesus

The Marathoner and Jesus

I once heard a man I really respect talking about how we've ruined the word "awesome." We've so integrated the word into daily language that we've actually given it a value opposite to its original definition. The truth is, that casserole from the other night wasn't really "awesome," despite how delicious it was. Especially when held in comparison to the mind-shattering goodness of the Lord. It's hard to explain the feeling of being entirely unraveled in awe, but I do have a few keys that help me to stay in, or get back to, that place. One of those very keys is surrounding oneself with testimonies. Testimonies offer the opportunity to reset our focus on what the Lord is doing, or has done, and allow us in response to marvel at just how good He is. An instant recipe for success! One...

In Christ, In Ministry

I had just purchased two candles at a shop in downtown Seattle at the request of my wonderful wife. As I stepped out the door, discovering the onset of Seattle’s favorite weather and me without my raincoat, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me. I’m often asked about how the Lord talks with me, to which I answer is usually through imagery or a sort of knowing. Over the years I’ve found that how I hear Him changes depending on my circumstances. While leading a deliverance session, for example, I function most out of the knowing; when another is leading and I’m participating, He often speaks to me via imagery. Tonight, walking through the rain in one of the areas where the poorest and most oppressed of Seattle gather, I heard Him speaking clearly outside of the means I’m most used to. In the same place and way that one hears their inner-voice, that inaudible yet tonal voice of...
