300 days – Summer 2020 update

300日数! Today marks my 300th day in Japan! (Danielle is just a little behind that.) The passage of time stops for no man; or virus for that matter. Despite the last few months playing out as it has per Covid-19, I hope this finds you in health and happiness. Danielle (otherwise known as マリー, Mari, here in Japan) and I are happy to report, 300 days into our life in Japan, we are doing very well. Yesterday we finished our 3rd quarter of language school (Our class and Sensei at graduation) It was an interesting semester, to say the least. At first, we suspected the semester would be canceled, only to be surprised with online learning for the first month. (Learning online) Our regular commute costs us 10 hours a week, which is incredible burden on our already packed schedule, so we didn't hate online classes. The newest Iris missionaries

The newest Iris missionaries

Danielle and I are thrilled to share that as of April,... we're officially Missionaries with Iris Global! What this means to us For us, joining Iris Global represents joining our family and friends in the pursuit, and ministry of, Jesus across the world. As we've watched the Lord connect-the-dots over the years, we believe this to be part of a divine strategy unfolding before us, directly impacting what we do here in Japan. With an average temperature floating between 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit, we've had some beautiful days despite being the coldest time of the year. Though it has been a really difficult month in some ways, we're still doing quite well! Every day we seem to understand a little more of the language, and our day-to-day routines here in Japan are becoming more familiar. New student Takoyaki party Dinner with friends! Japanese gesture game I wasn't very good at this at all... Lunch with Friends! Lots of Japanese homework, everyday! Having just started this series on "what I'm learning," I went into the month really excited about writing this post. I began taking notes of everything I was learning. It's amazing how much more you notice when you're looking for something! In just a few days I realized I had way too much to fit in a month's blog,...
